Legislative Bill Threatens Fish Availability
THE VOTE IS
WEDNESDAY!

Please call/email our Rep. Kristine Lytton
by Tuesday Night.

Maureen and Matt just sent out a note. (Read entire note here, it's good) The main points are below:

"This is Matt with an important issue that could affect the regularity of the fresh fish I, and other direct-marketing fishermen like myself, have available to you and other local consumers"

"Please call by Wednesday and urge a NO vote on HB 1210:  Please urge our local representative Kristine Lytton to vote NO on HB 1210.  (360) 786-7800, Kristine.Lytton@leg.wa.gov
HB 1210 is simply an allocation issue between purse seiner and gillnetters.  It is a measure that should be decided within the department of fisheries, not in the Legislature."

"The quota would be caught primarily by purse seiners, sold to the major processors, and be put into the "fish pipeline" like any other fish caught in mass volume.  I catch my fish in smaller volumes over a longer period of time, and bring them back to the islands because I know how important it is that we all share in our local resources.
Our goal is to increase local markets for salmon and maximize the value of the harvest. This results in more dollars and jobs to the State of Washington.'

"The ONLY equitable way of ensuring equality is allocating equal FISH, NOT time on water."

"What you can do to help stop HB 1210.

1. Determine if you live in the district of one of the committee members. (See list below.)

2. If you don't know your district, you can find out by calling 1-800-562-6000. Operators will assist you. Or you can find your legislators online at:    http://apps.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinder/Default.aspx

3. If you live in the district, call or e-mail the committee member to tell them you live in their district and that you are opposed to the bill. Provide two or three reasons why you are opposed to the bill.

4. If you don't live in a member's district, but know friends, family members or consumers/companies who do, ask them to call or e-mail. For example, do you know someone who lives in another part of Washington, such as in Representative Hinkle's district?

Each call or e-mail is logged and counted,

so you can make an impact on the vote."

"Please call before Wednesday and urge a NO vote on HB 1210:  Please urge our local representative, Kristine Lytton to vote NO on HB 1210.  (360) 786-7800, Kristine.Lytton@leg.wa.gov .  "
